This musical gives us a brilliant look into the enormous impact that R&B groups like the Supremes, the Marvelettes and the Temptations had on American popular music. It follows the story of a young female trio from Chicago called “The Dreams”, who work their way to stardom and fight for their rights in an industry that was traditionally dominated by men. Dreamgirls was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, won six, and was made into a major motion picture.
